Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental.

The lake level is 560 94 and has dropped a little less than 2-inches in the last 24-hours. They quit generating last evening and started one generator this morning. I dumped another 1.3 inches of rain out of my gauge a few minutes ago and it is raining pretty good now. It is slow and sinking in so far. The lake surface water temperature is dropping and is now 87-degrees. The lake clarity has not changed but is not very good from 20-30 feet where several of the fish are located. The fishing report has not changed but the catfishing is getting better with the nearly stable lake level and the cloudy, rainy weather with a very small moon. This is ideal for channel catfish. It would have been nice if there was no 12-ft. rule for the White River Newport during the hot dry summer with almost no rain for seven weeks so we could be back to a normal level by now. They quit generating everytime it rains and are determined to keep the level up as high as possible for as long as possible. Their prediction of being at 555.75 by August 16th seems unrealistic to me but I must believe everything the government says and it would be nice if it would happen. The boat traffic on the lake is low even on the weekends and almost non-existant during the week. I do not know if it is the heat, high gas prices or people are running out of money. I know I am. I bought a 40-lb. bag of black oil sunflower seeds to feed the birds and it was $27.99/bag plus tax making it over $30. Now they are making it impossible to feed the birds. The prices are only not fair for people they are not fair to the birds. Deer corn is now $13.99/bag.  Our way of life is really changing.
