The lake level is 571.41 and has dropped 2-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours with about 19-hours of running both generators. The surface water is in the mid 80's and rising in the hot dry weather. It is to cool a bit this weekend and then hot again in the middle of next week with highs in the high 90's. The lake looks clear from the surface but gets a little cloudy as you get to about 18-feet and then clear again at about 23-feet under the thermocline. The White River at Newport is 14-feet and dropping and Norfork is 58% full and the 4-lake system is 57%. There was a top-water bite this morning early for bass, hybrids and stripers with several being caught. After they go down drop a spoon on their heads. Bass abd bluegill can be caught in the evening using creature baits on a jig head and whacky worms near the bottom in 20-ft. of water near any wood part way back in the creeks. Catfishing is a little better but not much. The moon is getting smaller and that is good but they do not like dropping water either. You have to move limb-lines every day to keep them just under water.so drop-shotting jugs with live bluegill and shiners just outside the brush in about 20-ft of water and throw lines are better straight out from the shore. Some crappie are still on wood back in the creeks in about 26-ft. of water on jigs cast past the wood and dropping into it. They hit on the drop near the bottom. Come in when it warms up and get into Blackburns big pool with slide and baby pool or go scuba diving in one of our rental pontoons. We have it all here and at the best price. You can rent all of the scuba gear you need right down the road 1/2 mile at Scuba Doo full-service dive shop. Diving conditions are the best they have been in years. It looks to be a good summer.
