Norfork Lake arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing and diving report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental.

Mike with a nice one. Image title

The lake level is 571.89 and has dropped 2-1/3 inches in the last 24-hours with about 18-hours of running both generators. The surface water temperature is 84-degrees and rising in the hot weather which is to continue for at least another week and get hotter. The thermocline is at 20-feet and dropping and the visibility is clear in shallower water and less clear near the thermocline and then clear again under that. The clarity is not obvious form the surface and you need to get under water to actually see what is happening. A depth finder cannot show the thermocline most of the time but clarity it is much better than in previous years and is excellent for spearfishing. Trollers dragging umbrellas and live bait through shad  are catching stripers now as are spooners. Worm fishermen are catching bass and cricket fishermen are catching big bluegill. Crappie are still back in the creeks in brush or around wood in 27-28 feet of water. Another high pressure moving in and hanging over the area. A lot of fish are in the 20-ft. area in the buckbrush. What you need for a resort at this time is good pricing, good air conditioning, good bedding, covered porches to get out of the sun, free boat stalls, a big swimming pool and a good dock in a sheltered area. Blackburns has all of these. Spearfishing season is open. Check out the new report.
