Caught fishing with Bink's Guide Service yesterday.Image title

The lake level is 572.44 and has dropped 1-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running about 14-hours. The White River at Newport is 14.26 feet and very stable. The surface water temperature is rising and is now 80 on the main lake and warmer in the creeks and excellent for swimming. The water is clear. All area lakes are dropping with the hot dry weather. We could use some rain. Fish are moving deeper with the thermocline and the best bites are crappie back in the creeks on wood in 27-28 feet of water on jigs, stripers early morning on spoons, bass in the evening on plastic worms, bluegill under docks and by willow bunches on crickets and very small spoons and catfish on live bluegill on jugs and throw lines. Some White Bass are in front of brush in 23-25 ft. of water on the drop-off just at the thermocline but are mostly small. Get out early, take the middle of the day off and go out again around 5:30 PM and fish until dusk. You can catch about anything on a spoon now. Blackburns has one bedroom cabins for $425/week so call Debbie at 870-492-5115 when one comes open. No sense paying too much. 2,3,4 bedrooms are price accordingly.
