The lake level is 572.98 and is still creeping up with both generators running for about 4-hours and less than one for 2-hours. It is just not quite enough to hold level let alone drop. We are already past the forecasted crest. The White River at Newport is 13.74 and dropping so they can hold the area lakes up as high as they can for as long as they can. Lake is high, gas prices are high and Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental prices are still low. You can off-set high gas prices by staying at Blackburns where a free boat stall comes with your cabin. Compare prices before you make a reservation. We have almost all repeat customers and do not want to charge our friends too much. The water temperature is still in the mid 70's with some water near 77 and the clarity is good. Scuba fishing season starts on the 15th and I expect very good diving conditions. They have not been the best for the last few years but there are a lot of walleye, crappie and catfish and the visibility is good especially where the fish are located. The top-water bite is about gone for me. I see a few fish coming up but they will not hit anything and are mostly bass. I am spooning mostly now but drag a nightcrawler occassionally for a walleye very slowly with my trolling motor on the bottom or drift with the wind. We are getting rain this morning and are to get more for the next couple of days with highs about normal which is 82. No severe weather is expected. We are dry and need the rain. The moon is in the first quarter and sunrise is 5:51 and sunset is 8:25. I do not recomment being out on the lake after dark and for sure not with my rental, boats. What other people do is up to them. I see props lost and damaged, lower untis gone and holes in boats nearly every day with the night riders hitting partially submerged wood especially in the creeks. Scout out areas before you drag things and people around and stay on the main lake. There are 15-hours of daylight. That is enough.
