Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 572.94 and has risen 3/10ths of an inch in the last 24-hours with 4-hours of both generators and 2-hours of less than one. The White River at Newport is still dropping quickly and is at 14.35 ft. indicating not much is being released from Bull Shoals or Norfork. It is a good thing we have been dry. I have to irrigate the garden today. The weather has been beautiful with below average temperatures, sunny skies and low winds from the north. Our normal high is 82 and we have been in the low 70's. The surface water temperature is 76 this morning and the water is clear and getting clearer. We are still scheduled to crest on sunday at 573.10 on June 5th at 67% full but the 12-ft. rule at Newport will prevent them lowering the lakes much. If they would raise the limit to 23-ft. which is below minor flood we could get rid of a lot of water much sooner and not cause anybody any harm. The same people that like high water like high inflation, high food prices, high gas and diesel prices so nothing will change as long as we are willing to accept them. Try buying a new battery or tires. Wow.  Fishing has slowed a bit but some nice fish are still being caught. I caught one nice flathead last evening on a live bluegill and a few bass on a spoon in 20-ft. of water. The morning bite is the best at sunrise which is 5:52 but again the top-water bite has slowed but some fish are biting on the spoon in 30-40 ft. of water suspended 20-25 ft. down part way back in the creeks.Yes, Blackburns is the best place, has the best price and is closest to Mountain Home, dining and shopping and especially welcome Veterans and Law enforcement. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and a free boat stall comes with your cabin.
