Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 554.43 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday with one generator running continuously. One generator barely keeps up and we are to start getting more rain tomorrow with storms possible through wednesday. The White River at Newport is at 22.84 and is dropping slowly but they are still letting out a lot of water. The water in Blackburns Creek was brown yesterday with the high winds. It slowed down yesterday afternoon but is to come back today. It started out very cold but warmed up nicely in the afternoon. We went to the Cystic Fibrosis tournament weigh-in and talked to the father and son winners. I do not know if they want their names mentioned but they are very nice fellows. They have been fishing Norfork for many years and just decided to fish the tournament at the last minute while traveling through town. They caught several keeper fish (over 20) with a winning total of 17.35 pounds and caught almost all of them on crankbaits and saw very few top-water fish. They were fishing in a south facing creek near Blackburns Resort and caught most of their fish in the morning but continued to catch some all day mostly largemouth and Kentuckies and very few smallmouth.  They also caught the second big bass. They won $1,000 dollars and a new Bass Cat boat. The entry fee was $100 dollars. The pay-outs went to the first 20 places with the last several getting their money back. That is better than nothing. There were just over 200 boats. I did not fish the tournament but was just three big bass away from winning it if I had. The wind is picking up already. I wish it would go away. At least last evening was no wind for a change. I will try to catch a catfish soon. I like that. Blackburns still has one bedroom cabins for $59/day with a free boat stall. Come on down. We will not charge you too much.
