The lake level is 553.42 and has dropped 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with continuous generation. The White River at Newport is 20.61 so they are letting out a lot of water and that is good. It is also good to finally see the sun shine again after several days of windy, dreary and cold weather. The surface water temperature is in the low 50's and the water is stained. No wind, no rain and sunshine will clear it up again even with high generation which I hope they keep up. The backs of creeks near the shore will clear and make for a lot of people sight fishing bass nests. I do not do that. Bass tournaments release all of their fish in mostly one place but remove them from the nests and leave the eggs and fry unprotected from bluegill and warmouth. That is why they hang out near the bank during spawn.  We just do not need a big fluxuation in water level now during the spawn and it would be nice to stay at this level all the time. Bass fishing is pretty good, crappie fishing is fair along with temperate bass. Warm nights and sunny days will get the top-water bite going as the water temperature rises. It will start up just a day or two a week and then happen most early mornings just before, during and just after sunrise. You have to get out there early for best results. Top-water fish can be released without much harm and are fun and easy to catch. Some fish feeding on shad in the backs of creeks after heavy wind near the surface in march does not mean the top-water spring bite has begun. Blackburns feature of the day is Cabin #10. We just finished working on it yesterday and it is ready for you and with no price increases. Debbie and Amy just finished deep cleaning and painting the exterior.
