Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 554.37 and has risen 4-inches in the last 24-hours with generation more than 1/2 the time. The White River at Newport 13-feet and is also higher since we are now out of the power pool. There have been little effects from the last rain except for the lake rising about a foot and a half. It did not affect clarity on the main lake but the creeks are more stained but not bad. We put three more new ceiling fans in cabin #11 with two of them going in the big screened-in porch and the other in the largest bedroom. It is now completely ready for your visit and we have people that just checked in to it today already keeping Blackburns full. Today's project is new carpet for pontoon #9, get it serviced and back in the water and then pull out pontoon #11 for servicing. The Black Champion is getting a new steering cable, bilge pump, serviced and will be back in the lake next week and ready for rental. Things are moving right a long and need to as spring is coming fast. We worked inside until the weather warmed up and then went out to put in brush for fish cover. I am not much for charging out there when the weather is in the teens. I go out in the warmest part of the day and come in when the sun goes down. Three of us have fish cover permits and are allowed 6-trees each and we finished up that project just before dark.  We had five more left. It is good for the lake and fishing especially for Blackburn's customers and we have some good ones with several being in new places. We will show you where when you get here. I did not fish but was on the water for several hours and had a surface water temperature of 45-46 degrees and I could see the bottom in about 5-6 feet of water near the shore. It was a beautiful day with highs near 50 and sunny with very light winds and perfect for putting in trees. It is to get very windy tomorrow with a front coming through monday with a little rain but that one does not bother me. The front coming up from the Gulf on  wednesday bringing a lot of moisture and colliding with a cold front coming down from the north looks like trouble to me. It is just a matter of where they meet whether we get rain, ice or snow. Somebody is going to get significant rain and we do not need that now with the lake being held up so high this winter already. Today will be the best weather for fishing with wind tomorrow. People did not do the best yesterday but that was expected the first sunny day after a cold front. Just a few bass were caught and none worthy of a picture. Several are out today. We are busy and like it that way. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and your first boat stall is free. I bought some new trailer tires, batteries and boat oil and cannot believe the prices. What have we let happen? If we are having a 7-1/2 % rate of inflation why are prices doubling? Blackburns is not raising their prices on anything again this year and will hold as long as possible.
