Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba Steve From Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Tom Kelly with some nice ones yesterday. Some were very large. Image title

The lake level is 553.20 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday with a few hours of generation. The White River at Newport is 12+ feet and dropping very quickly with the reduced generation. There is no effort to drop the area lakes this winter and they are all holding just under the power pool. The surface water temperature was 48.5 yesterday afternoon when I went out and the wind was light from the west. It came up about 5:PM when the cold front started to come through after an ambient high of 64-degrees. The water visibility had cleared in both the main lake and the creeks and is a good color for fishing.  It is 30-degrees this morning and is not going to warm up much for the next couple of days and the lows are to get into the teens. At least January is about over. Bink reports catching several white bass and crappie in Big creek on his 3/8th ounce spoon, Tom Kelly caight big crappie, Mike caught bass and crappie and I caught fish from the time I went out until I came in at dark. It is nice that the days are getting longer. I fish crappie until about sunset with the jig and then beat the bank for bass with the grub until dark. I have not got into the big smallmouth yet and the walleye have slowed down but the rest of the fishing is pretty good. The weather looks to get better by this weekend  with good fishing days by sunday and monday. Fishing overall is just fair but some good ones are being caught everyday.
