Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozark Mountain Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental

Rum Binkley with some New Year's White Bass. These are some of the biggest ones that I have seen in two years. All caught on the Bink's Spoon. Image title

The lake level is 553.84 and has risen 3-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours with generation about 1/3rd the time. We received about three inches of rain in the last two days here at Blackburns and the creeks run but not nearly as hard as the last time. There is some brown water in the backs of the creeks but not bad. It rained most of the day and we finished up several projects at the resort and went out fishing about 3:30 PM and fished until dark. The surface water temperature was 57 degrees and the lake had stained a bit. The wind came up and the temperature started to drop about 4:30 PM and then the cold front came in. It is cold now and it will warm up again to normal until thursday when it gets cold again. We have missed all of the storms and bad weather so far and this is our first taste of winter. It will be lucky to reach freezing today.  Several fish were caught including bass, crappie and walleye but we had three different groups out there and not high numbers of fish. We have been fortunate to have had until the new year to work on outdoor projects and it is only two more months until we get busy at the resort again. That is why we cannot wait until spring to make improvements as people are anxious to get out and go fishing as soon as spring breaks. March can have very variable weather with warm days followed by cold fronts every week and it is hard to plan a trip for the best fishing. If you do not have to plan very far ahead just read this blog or send me an E-mail to find out what is going on. I will be here every day and will help you and will not be on vacation. You cannot drive the train if you are not on it. The cabin improvements are all done and now is the time to work on rental boats. Things are going well so far. Come on down. We will not charge you too much. My cold weather gear is all charged up and ready to go but I do not like it and my old Champion Boat does not like it either. If you have not serviced your boat motor it would be best to keep the lower unit in the water rather than on the lift or with the trim up.
