James Soltysiak and Craig DeHoet caught some good ones this morning. Blackburns is the fishing place.
The lake level is 553.48 and has risen one inch in the ;ast 24-hours with 3-hours of running one generator. Mountain Home reported 3/4 of an inch of rain last night but we received 1-1/2 here at Blackburns. The surface water temperature was 60 degrees when I went out yesterday afternoon and the ambient was about the same. The cold front is here now and the temperature is dropping fast and it is to clear and get very cold here tonight and then warm back up again with temperatures back near 60. The cold fronts just keep coming and you have to learn how to fish them or you will have trouble catching fish. When they quit biting you have to drop that spoon right on their heads and get a reaction strike. Crappie, bluegill and Kentucky Bass continue to be the best bite. I caught my limit of 5-crappie along with two big bluegill and also two Kentucky bass. The fish are all very fat and healthy. There is a lot of baitfish out there. Again the fishing was slow until 4:PM and then they started and then quit again about 1/2 hour later. There is no sense for me to stay after dark. Some fish are coming up under my light on the dock at about 9:PM after the minnows that come to it. There were big schools of shad coming up but not lately. Just creek minnows. I have not caught a walleye in three days. I have to winterize a few cabins after Thanksgiving dinner with the cold night coming. It is too early for 22-degrees. We have a big crowd here at Blackburns and we have cooked two turkeys and a ham. I hope it is enough. I like Thanksgiving and feel so blessed. No drama here.
