Norfork Lake Condition and fishing Report by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental (click here for comments)

Don Choc from Festus, Missouri shows off some nice ones. Welcome to Blackburns. Image title

The lake level is 553.68 and is rising slowly with 1/2 generator running for several hours. It came up 3/4 inch in the last 24-hours. Power pool is 553.75 and it will be interesting to see how the lake is managed then. I suspect they will keep it just above that for as long as they can. We usually get nearly 5-inches of rain in November. The lake surface water is 67 degrees and also dropping slowly. It should go faster with the very cool nights later this week after another cold front comes through. We are to get our first frost either wednesday or thursday night. It sure was beautiful today, sunny with a high in the upper 60's. but the wind started to pick up this afternoon. Blackburns has people working on the new Burke's store where Stage used to be, people looking for real estate, people that have not been here for a while, and others fishing. It is a good group. Bink took out Don and Diane Choc from Festus, Missouri and they has a good time. They are very nice people and are welcome. Diane has been here before and this is Don's first time. Hope he likes it. They caught crappie, stripers and bass and are out fishing on a pontoon rental boat today. The lake is still turning and is a little off-color. The fall fishing will start soon. Some people are catching a few red meat fish but are working hard to get them. They fish all day for two or three fish and sometimes two days. They are not jumping in the boat.  It will get better soon. Time change is the first Sunday in November which is the 7th and the full moon is the 19th. Fishing usually gets good by time change. We will see. There are a lot of creek minnows on the bank. The lake will be clearing by then. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and your first boat stall is free.
