Norfork Lake, Northern Arkansas, Mountain Home, Ozark Mountain Region Fall Foliage Report by Scuba Steve From Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental

The dry conditions caused the leaves to start dropping and changing color earlier than normal but the recent rain has slowed it down a bit. It does not look good for spectacular color but it is always beautiful here in the fall. The roadsides are changing to red with the sumac but the deciduous oaks are turning brown and dropping leaves already with walnuts and maples dropping quickly now. My big burning bush which is usually brilliant is not ready yet. Usually the very last of October is peak but I am not sure about this year. The leaves really start to fall quickly and then quit. Any wind will not help things. I will let you know as the season progresses. There is yellow and browns on the hillsides but not a lot. It is to warm to close to 90 this weekend. You can come to Blackburns, rent a pontoon and cruise the lake or let us help you with a driving tour. Southern Missouri is usually about a week ahead of us. in Northern Arkansas and the Ozark Mountain Region. Blackburns is your fall foliage headquarters for Norfork lake and the Mountain Home area.
