Norfork Lake fishing report and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

Caught fishing with Bink's Guide Service yesterday. Image title

The lake level is 560 74 and has dropped 3-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with 1-1/2 generators running continuously. It took four days to drop the last foot. The lake was pretty busy on the weekend but slows way down during the week with school started. Several are trying to take advantage of the sunny weather even though it is now hot again. They like the last of summer but the lower boat traffic. The lake and a swimming pool are the best way to beat the heat. The lake is in excellent condition for boating and swimming and several campgrounds and beach areas are opening back up and more should be available by Labor Day unless we get a big rain and conditions remain the same as they have for several weeks. Big rains have happened all around us and we have been very fortunate to have avoided them. Whie being very dry we have received just enough to keep things green. Everything is in good condition here and we would welcome your visit. Two weeks from today the last summer holiday will be over and fall fishing will begin with most boats being fishing boats. The time around Thanksgiving is always a very good time to fish Norfork Lake. The morning bite remains the best but some fish are starting to feed on shallow shad in the late afternoon and evening. A mixed bag of fish are being caught and overall fishing has held up despite the hot weather. Spoon in and around those 30-35 ft. brush piles on both main lake and secondary points touching either the bottom or top of brush. Cast the spoon if you see fish coming up and hop it back to the boat keeping it from sinking as much as possible.
