The lake level is 565.91 and has dropped a little less than 3-inches in the last 24-hours with generation about 2/3rds the time. They quit all night and start up again in the morning. It took a little over 4-days to drop the last foot. The high was 573.11 in late June and has dropped an average of two inches a day drop since then. It is going faster now with the bowl getting smaller but the generation time is about the same most of the time. We have received below average rainfall since then. Bink reports being out everyday for the past several weeks and is catching a mixed bag of fish using the jigging spoon in the area of the thermocline at around 30-feet. Bass, walleye, good sized hybrids, white bass and small stripers are all being caught. He is using the 1/2 ounce Many Shad and Arkansas Shiner spoons and is using no other baits. He has caught several today as we speak. He is the only one that I know catching big walleye. Bluegill fishing is very good off docks, around willows and main lake cuts on the 1/8th ounce spoon using 4-lb. clear line. Crickets are also working but the spoon is also picking up some crappie. The lake surface temperature has dropped a bit to about 87 but will go back up with ambient temperatures to get near 100 by Monday. Blackburns big pool with slide and baby pool is very busy and is the center of the action. Volleyball, soccer, table tennis, shuffleboard, basketball, teather ball and horseshoes are all going continuously. It is fun having a big, green, flat playground and not huddled up on a hillside. You do not need tents here as all cabins have big covered porches. We have a couple of openings for next week so give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115. The children will have a lot of fun and meet new friends. Yes we allow fishing off the dock and have a lot of fish there and the children can feed them and the many turtles. Blackburns is the fun place and especially welcome law enforcement and veterans. You will be welcome here and we will not charge you too much. Most of our customers are repeat and are considered friends.
