The lake level is 567.41 and has dropped about two inches in the last 24-hours with generation about 60% of the time. The White River at Newport is below 12-ft. and was below 11-ft. yesterday. The lake surface water is in the high 80's and rising with the hot weather. It is to get to 100 degrees tomorrow and continue for the rest of the week. We keep getting scattered pop up showers about every day in the heat of the day at about 3:30-4:30 PM and some have some wind and causing white caps for a few minutes and then they are gone. Fishing is the same. The thermocline is dropping, the water is heating but the clarity is about the same. Some bass are chasing shad early near the surface part way back in the creeks and feeding near the bank late evening. Walleye are on main and secondary points in 30-35 ft. near the bottom on the spoon. Bluegill are under docks and shallower brush on jigs, crickets and red worms. I am not seeing as many catfish being caught as usual. It may get better as the moon gets smaller but they do not like dropping water. When you find schools of crappie they are mostly small but the loners on brush can be very large. Dog days of summer are here.
