Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 553.63 and has dropped just a bit in 24-hours with both generators running about 25% of the time, 1/2 generator running 25% and nothing about 50%. They must be anticipating the big rain fall coming Sunday. They always quit generating when it rains to maximize the effects so the lakes can raise as much as possible. They then say the dams are doing what they are supposed to do, hold water, and then open the gates and flood everything out downstream. Sounds like a plan to me. Deja Vu all over again. It is dry here and we are under an outdoor burn warning and can take some rain. It is a good thing. I had a surface water temperature of 51 yesterday in some places and the spring-like weather is helping fishing. I caught fish on spoons, jigs and jerk bait both on main lake brush and part way back in the creek near the shore next to deep water. Bink had a good day on both bass and walleye on both the 1/4 ounce spoon and the jerk bait and caught fish all day. Big ones too. I was using the 1/2 ounce spoon to keep it vertical in the wind. The days are to be warm until after the weekend and then cool a bit but not too bad. Normal highs are 58 degrees and we are to be several degrees over that for the next several days with storms possible. Typical middle of March weather. The phone is ringing steadily and I have to get going and open up the rest of the cabins. It looks to be a busy spring so far. I have had both of my covid shots and the rest of the staff are getting them later this month. No problems. Fishing is getting better everyday. The main lake is very clear.
