James with a couple of pretty good ones released under the dock.
The lake level is 553.48 and has risen just a bit since this time yesterday with very little generation. None since yesterday afternoon but they just started again. The lake has cleared in the last three or four days and is very clear near the shore. The surface water temperature was right at 50 when I went out yesterday and the wind was from the east at about 5-10 MPH. The fishing was not the best but a few were caught, mostly bass. They were not giant but nice sized. The ambient temperature was in the early 50's and it was a nice day and mostly sunny. It was very foggy this morning and is just now burning off. It is to be nice for a few days and then cool off again. I saw four other boats out there all evening and three were from Blackburns. There was one fishing open water in front of the docks at Mallard Point. The rest of us were fishing main lake point brush. The live bait striper fishermen that I have talked to are looking hard and long for schooling fish and when they find some feeding they catch a few very quickly and then they are gone. Most of the ones that they are killing are getting smaller and smaller. It is nice and warm again today and we will see what happens. It is nice to just be out there.
