Sonny Eakle from Granger, Iowa caught several yesterday. These are the biggest.
The lake level is 556.78 and has risen about one inch in the last 24-hours. it stays stable when they run one generator and creeps up when they shut down or run 1/2 generator. The surface temperature has stayed fairly stable at 65+ degrees on the main lake and the water is clearing. Some guests caught several white bass about 1-1/2 pounds and were happy to get them after looking for them for several days. They also caught a very small striper and a hybrid but none were picture fish. The crappie fishermen did the best and also caught some bass with a few being smallmouth. Big bluegill fishing is very good right now and they are very tasty. Take a piece of bread with butter, slice of onion and a bluegill fillet and see how you like it. No red meat to cut out. The weather has been great but a little windy in the middle of the day. Cold fronts come through about twice a week and slow fishing but it picks back up the more the high pressure is here until the next one. This is a good time of year. The fall foliage has mostly blown off and you have your choice of light brown, medium brown and dark brown. It was a dud and not worth driving here for but the hillsides are always very beautiful here. When you come bring a coat for early morning and just before sunset and rain gear just in case. The middle of the day is very nice but does not last that long. It is nice to just be out there. The fishing is best on cloudy days after high pressure has been here for several days and just before the cold front and winds pick up then it starts all over again. Some fish can be caught almost anytime if you are not stuck on what you are fishing for and change with the flow and fish for what is biting. Come on down to Blackburns.
