The lake level is 559.65 and has dropped 2-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with the equivalent of one generator running continuously. We did receive about 1/2 inch of badly needed rain last night and the wind got a little gusty for a bit. The weather is to cool for a couple of days, warm back up and then cool again. The lake is clearing slowly and the surface termperature is about 75 degrees depending on where and when you check it. The big moon, dropping lake level and cold fronts are almost stopping throw lines with live bluegill and are not helping overall fishing but some good ones are being caught everyday. Technique and persistence is very important now. Spooning brush is the best way to catch fish now except for the ones feeding on the bank both early and late are hitting plastic worms. I am also using a jig casted past the brush and allowing it to sink right into the brush is also working somewhat. Slip floats sitting right over the brush with live minnows is also working for crappie and bluegill especially in light or no wind but you have to set the depth barely over the top of the brush. I am using slip floats, spoons and jigs exclusively and catching fish everyday. I would use live minnows more but the ones that I am getting are too small and the wind is blowing almost everytime I go out. Blackburns still had cabins for $59/day with a free boat stall and pontoons with trolling motors and bass boats for fishing. Come on down. We will not charge you too much.
