Caught fishing with Bink yesterday. Nice fish.
The lake level is 570.24 and has dropped 2-inches in the last 24-hours with generation about 1/2 the time. We did receive 1/2 inch of badly needed rain yesterday but missed almost all that was predicted. The surface temperature is 87 degrees and the lake is in good condition for boating, swimming and fishing although it is still too high for beaches and the parking for launching is still limited on weekends. The boat traffic is still relatively high for the first part of August and people are really enjoying the lake and are happy to just get out. It has really been busy here at Blackburns with people taking advantage of the best prices on the lake for cabins and boat rentals. The big pool with slide has been very popular with the children really enjoying swimming in it and also off the dock. Bink has been catching walleye and stripers on his spoon and Tom Kelly, Mike Eakle and the Sims boys have been catching some nice bass and a few walleye. The split tailed worm, shakey head worm on a jig head and grubs are the best for bass. Fish early, take the middle of the day off and hit it again in the late afternoon for the best fishing. Use light clear line and work the main lake points from the shore to about 23 feet. Bink is catching his stripers deep.
