Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 574.16 and has dropped 2-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours.  They shut off the generation in the middle of the night to keep the area lakes as high as possible for as long as possible. It has not rained for over a week and it is getting dry again here and it is warm and to get warmer. The lake surface temperature is in the high 80's depending on the time of day. The lake has cleared all week and we will see what happens after the weekend boat traffic. The thermocline is dropping and is in the low 20's and the visibility is 5-7 feet depending on what day of the week.  The shoreline in the creeks is very clear. Not a lot of people are fishing now with most boating and swimming. The fishing clubs with the weekly tournaments  are doing well on bass with limits in the teens. Bink is catching stripers and bass on his spoon. Crappie are scattered but some are being caught. Catfishing on jugs is working pretty well with live bait. Bluegill fishing is excellent off docks and on the old shoreline on worms and crickets. Some big ones are being caught. Get out a little before 6:Am and fish until about 10. Take the middle of the day off anf go out again about 5:PM and fish unril sunset. As the lake drops more stationary brush is being uncovered and you have to be carefull.
