Top water bite this morning.
The lake level is 578.98 and is the same as 24-hours ago. They are letting out just enough to balance the inflow of the river while dropping the White River at Newport as fast as they can for absolutely no reason. If they would just drop the lake a few feet it would do a lot of good but they will not. It is a good thing it has been very dry. You cannot let the government run anything. The surface water temperature is 84 degrees and the lake seems to be clearing just a bit. People are catching fish on top water early and then the stripers and hybrids are going deep but the walleye and other species are hanging around the thermocline at 20-feet in the cover. Spinner baits are working as are 3-inch flat tailed grubs on a jig head. A lot of fish are on points in 19-23 feet. You can swim in our big pool with slide, off our dock or off a rental pontoon. There are not many other options and Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental have the best prices on everything. Why pay more unless you just want to? Sorry, you have to stay at the resort to rent one of our boats. C.O.E. rule not mine. Stupid rule based on politics. Absolutely no reason for it also.
