Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 559.58 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running continuously. The surface water temperature is 47 and the brown water is going away and changing to green. You can see your lure down about two feet. There were fishing tournaments out of most of the area major marinas yesterday and boats were everywhere. The bass were biting better early and late with slow fishing in the middle of the day. Many short fish were caught. The people that were staying here at Blackburns caught some fish but not a lot. I talked to fishermen on the lake and they had the same report. I was the only one that I saw fishing brush and most were working the bank. I caught 3-nice bass and two crappie and that was all. No picture fish. The crappie were 11-12 inches. It was slow for me but the weather was nice. Just a bit windy but not bad. Bink reports catching a mixed bag of white bass and hybrids in open water 60-70 feet of water suspended. We were both spooning but he did better than me. His fish had moved again but he found them. I did not find very many but was happy to be out. Open water fishing is the best if you can find them and stay on them. Not many big fish but a lot of bait with nothing chasing them. Striper simulating a spawn next at night and top water after that. Early March not always the best fishing.
