The lake level is 553.73 and has dropped about 2-inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running a little over 1/2 the time. The White River at Newport is still dropping and is just over 14 feet. The water surface temperature dropped to under 50 degrees for the first time yesterday and is 49+. The main lake continues to be stained as well as the creeks. You can see your lure down about 3-feet. I went out a little later than usual yesterday waiting for the wind to go down. I fished a north facing bank to get out of it and worked a brushpile hard for about an hour using a grub with very limited results. Then I switched to a 1/8th ounce Bink's spoon firetiger in color and started catching fish immediately. Caught 4- crappie and a bass in about 1/2 hour and then it was dark. It is very cloudy with misting rain now and I am heading out. We will see what today brings. The only two other boats i saw out there were staying at Blackburns where people are taking advantage of the low cabin rates and their first boat stall free. Many resorts are closed. The lake is in excellent condition and the winter fishing has been very good.
