Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 556.42 and has risen 1.4 feet in 24-hours.  They quit generating when it rained as they always do to enhance the rise. They were not generating much anyway.  They are generating heavily with spillway gates open to hold the rise down at the chain of lakes. We received about 3-inches of additional rainfall last evening and night and the creeks run hard. They have slowed way down now. The Water temperature was 63 last afternoon when I went out and it was very cloudy but no rain until after dark. The fishing was the same as the day before with bass being the best bite with crappie second. I caught bass, warmouth, small White Bass and crappie.  Some guests caught some small hybrids and White Bass but no stripers. They were using shiners with balloons and planer boards with several lines out and were fishing the flats in front of the houses on Mallard point. I went up to the walleye rearing pond point but saw no signs of any after dark activity. Nothing would touch the stick bait. It started to rain so I came in. It is to be very nice this weekend and then get cold.  We will see what the rain did to the fishing and I will let you know. They need to let some water out but refuse to do so. For the people that wanted summer to end they are getting their wish. They should be very happy Monday.
