Norfork Lake fishing, lake conditions and fall foliage report by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 555.75 and has dropped about 1-inch in the last 24-hours. We received about two inches of rain the last three days but the creeks did not run. It is good to have moisture in the ground going into the winter. It has been cloudy, dreary, rainy and cool but is sunny and nice out now. I went fishing and found some very nice bass part way back in the creeks in cuts just outside the buck brush in about 7-8 feet near the bottom. I was using the grub and minnow but those three inch worms with a lead head are working too. I caught some good sized crappie but not many of them. I did see some fish schooled on the main lake in front of Mallard Point by Hensleys on shad in 50-ft. suspended but they were small. I only caught bass, crappie and bluegill  but it was nice to be out. No picture fish. I come in at dark and my photographer quits at 5PM. The main lake seemed more stained with the rain but is in excellent condition for fishing and boating. The surface water temperature was 67 but some of our guests were swimming off our rental pontoon. It is too cool for me and I put my scuba gear away Friday. That is a sad day for me every year as I do not want summer to leave. It is easier to get fish with a pole anyway. We had a big group leave today and another one coming in for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is always good fishing. Come on down.  We will not charge you too much and are open all year. The wind blew a lot of leaves off but there is more color than there was and it is not a total bust like last year. The roadways are not bad but the hillsides are still poor. Not worth driving a long ways to see.
