Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 562.59 and is still dropping a little over 2-inches in a 24-hour period. Surface temperature is still about 86 degrees and is perfect for swimming and boating. Ambient temperatures continue to be near 90. We received a pop-up shower yesterday in the afternoon and it rained hard. About 0.6 inches here at the resort. Other places close by got none. Fishing overall is fair with crappie, walleye and catfish being the best.  Dead stripers are showing up down by the dam and I am sorry to see this. It always happens in high water years. It is caused by low oxygen.  There is little or no oxygen below about 30-feet and that is why most fish are at or just above the thermocline which is about 26-feet. Fall is quickly approaching and it looks to be a good year for fall foliage. Blackburns Resort and Boat rental is your fall foliage headquarters. Peak usually occurs the very last of October but we will monitor this for you and post on this blog. It is a good time for fishing too. Come on down.  We will not charge you too much. Our big pool is open.
