Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

Caught this morning on a Bink's spoon.Image title

The lake level is 566.26 and is dropping at a rate of 2-inches/day with generation about 1/2 the time. The level at Newport has dropped below 12-feet now. This is crazy boys. Let some water out. And some people want the government to run more things. They have done an excellent job of holding it up all summer and are trying to get through until way after Labor Day. They cannot use the excuse that it is flooding elsewhere anymore. Our area is below annual average precipitation.  I had a 90-degree surface water temperature in Blackburns creek an hour ago. It is to remain hot for several more days. The creeks are stained and the main lake is somewhat less stained. A lot of fish are at or just below the thermocline which is 25-27 feet. Some smaller stripers in the 8-10 lb. range are coming in along with some good walleye. Bass fishing is fair and catfishing is less than fair but some are being caught. Bink is catching some good fish on his spoon.
