Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 566.68 and has dropped 2-inches in the last 24-hours with generation about 1/2 the time. It has come down over 7-feet from it's high and has taken a long time to do so. You can at least walk or drive the 1/3 mile to the lake with out taking the high road. This is good.  Some crappie have moved in to brush at 20-25 feet but there is not very much of that. Most of my brush still at least 12-feet too deep. I am using the 1/4 ounce Bink's spoon for them. They are not the big ones though. I am concerned about the numbers of white bass. I usually see many of them diving this time of year but have seen none. I do not fish for them but they are a good go to fish when nothing else is biting. Maybe the earlier fish kill was worse than we expected or maybe they are just in another area. People are just not bringing any in. The surface temperature is in the mid 80's and the hot weather continues. The lake is in good condition for boating and swimming and the overall fishing is fair. Water is stained but normal for August. The fishing will get better and better until lake turnover in October and then get better again. Thanksgiving is my favorite time to get bass, crappie, walleye and red meat fish. Catfishing has been slow so far but some are being caught spooning for bass and walleye.
