Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 571.34 and has risen 1.2 inches in 24-hours with very little generation. They are continuing to run Table Rock hard with 5 spillway gates open and it should drop below the top of the power pool today. Norfork is 14.5 feet above power pool and Bull Shoals is 21.22 feet above power pool. Go figure. They are also reducing the level of the White River at Newport and it is below 18 feet and headed for 14-feet while reducing the discharge. It could be at 25-feet with no problem. Let some water out boys.  Do not hold and hope again this year and then open the spillway gates and flood everything downstream. At least generate some power out of it. We are fortunate here that we are dry and the water is not rising much from the normal river inflow.  It would not take much to at least stabilize Norfork at this time. Yesterday was a very busy day for lake boat traffic. Launching and parking was at a premium and day use people really had to want to get out there. There were vehicles and trailers parked miles from the launch areas. The weather was great and overall people had a good time. It will take a while for the lake to clear again as it was stirred up quite a bit.  It is a good thing Blackburns has such a big swimming pool with slide as it was full all weekend. We had a great group of people and most were repeat customers. The fishermen did catch some fish but not a lot. Bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill is the best with a small striper, hybrid bass, white bass and walleye thrown in for good measure. Come on down. we will not charge you too much. Check prices carefully before booking as some are still raising their prices. You can get a one bedroom cabin for $75/day or $425/week here at Blackburns.  Why pay more?
