Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 571.22 and has risen 2-inches in the last 24-hours. They continue to drop Table Rock and keep it normal at the expense of everything else. The White River at Newport is now at 18-ft. and dropping quickly and headed for 14-ft. for some reason with less discharge. Bull Shoals continues to rise about 5-inches a day with all of the Table Rock discharge.  Newport could be at 25-ft. easily if they wanted to. It would be if Branson was in danger of flooding. Hold and hope. We have a very good group here at Blackburns this weekend with no drama so far.  We are happy to be called the family place. I had a 80-degree temperature in Blackburns creek yesterday.  The holiday boats have stirred up the water a bit but no too bad. There are just not enough day use facilities available for the campers and other locals and it is keeping the lake boat traffic down a bit. I believe most resorts have no diminished services. We have avoided almost all severe weather so far this year and it is getting a little dry here with the very warm weather. There was a smaller fish kill earlier with most being small red meat fish. I am sure the game and fish will find out what caused it. Catfish are biting on limb lines and jugs and the best bait is bluegills. Bass are biting fair on finesse worms and also live bluegills. Some red meat fish are in open water and roaming just outside cover. Several crappie are under docks and around the buckbrush. Overall fishing is just fair but most people are catching fish. Come on down.  We will not charge you too much. Some places are raising rates again later this week so compare prices.
