Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

Caught on the Bink's spoon yesterday.Image titleImage title

The lake level is 565.27 and has risen about 11-inches in the last 24-hours with just a few hours of running about 1/2 of one generator. It is exactly what it was one year ago.  The level at Newport is 25-feet and 26-feet is the minor flood level. They are running Table Rock as hard as they can and also have 5-spillway gates open to protect Branson. It is amazing what they can do if they want to when politics and $ are involved. We have received about 3.3 inches of rain here the the last 5-days and it seemed like it was going to be cloudy forever but it is nice and sunny now. Gizzard shad are spawning now behind the buckbrush and the bass are feeding heavily. One guest caught and released 35 yesterday. The carp have almost finished spawning in the back of Blackburns creek and there were sure a lot of them. Several bow hunters were there shooting them.  The main lake in my area is a little stained but good for fishing. Walleye are biting on the spoon as are stripers after they go down after feeding top water in the AM. The walleye biting now are mostly spawned out females and are skinny and schooled. Overall fishing is good with bass being the best bite and walleye and crappie next. I do not count white bass. They always bite and have hybrids with them. Blackburns has a lot of good fishermen in now taking advantage of our low cabin prices, boat rental prices, first boat stall free and free trolling motors on pontoons.  Our big covered porches really came in handy this last week with the rain. Come on down.  We will not charge you too much. We sure have a lot of birds and wildlife.
