The lake level is 554.83 and has risen 2-inches in the last 24 hours with 1.5 inches of rain.  The creeks run but not too fast. It should come up a bit more but not much if they keep the one generator running. We were needing a little rain anyway and it will bring the mushrooms up next week with the warmup. It is cold now and the surface water temperature is about 60 degrees depending on where you are. Creature baits with a lead head are the best baits now with bass and some walleye on the bank. Top water lures are working early AM and then they quit so switch to a lizzard on 6-lb. line for bass and walleye.  The cold weather set the spawn back a little but it is to be in the 70's for a few days before the next low pressure moves in. A lot of fish were caught yesterday and the Cystic Fibrosis buddy bass tournament was a success with 18.79 lbs. winning and 6.78 big bass.  That is pretty good and shows how these locals can fish. There were 243 boats. Blackburns fishermen had a good day with several nice fish caught. Us folks living here are lucky to have such a nice big lake with so many varieties of fish. There is something for everyone except high boat traffic and big wake boats. I started to go out again last evening but the wind was blowing hard from the north an it was cold. At least everyone got in a pretty good day of fishing before the rain started a little after noon. Blackburns was nearly full but had several leave so we have room for you now.  Come on down. We will not charge you too much.
