Caught and released on the spot yesterday. Good to see some showing up.
The lake level is 554.68 and has dropped a little less than 1-inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuously. I hope they keep it running but the White River level at Newport is dropping quickly and the discharge is being reduced. The cystic fibrosis buddy bass tournament is today and runs from 7AM to 3:PM. So far so good with the weather and I hope it holds for them. Those West Plains boys know how to fish and put on a good tournament. It is for a very good cause. The results will be a good indication of the current bass fishing conditions on Norfork Lake with cloudy conditions and a cold low pressure moving in. I predict at least 15-lbs will be caught. It is cooler today and the rain is to start later this afternoon. They should get through most of the day with good weather. Fishing overall is in transition with fish on the bank, fish in deeper water staging and some spawning and some not ready to spawn yet. Bass in Norfork lake continue spawning well into June especially Kentuckies. It is very busy here at Blackburns with people taking advantage of the low cabin rates and free boat stall. Come on down, it looks to be good weather most of next week and we will not charge you too much. We are finishing remodeling cabin #9, the mobile home, and then all of the cabins will have been gone through. We are very proud of the resort here at Blackburns and would like for you to check it out. There will be no price increases here again this year and you can still get a one bedroom cabin for two people for $59/day. Shop before you buy. We have a good setup here for fishermen and other boaters. You do not have to go some place else to launch and have ample parking for both vehicles and trailers. It is an easy 1/3 mile walk or drive to the dock on nearly level ground with a big level playground for the children with lots of activities.
