The lake level is 554.49 and has dropped a very little bit in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuously. They continue to drop the level at Newport and the discharge from there. It is now below 21-feet. I had a 56 degree water temperature when I went out yesterday. The lake is still stained but is clearing near the bank. I went bass fishing and caught a few with a couple of pretty good ones.  They were in main lake cuts in about 20-ft. of water. I found none shallow. Bink is still on the red meat fish and catching them early AM on the spoon and then again after dark on the stick bait. It is starting to pick up now. The weather continues to be beautiful with the wind picking up in the heat of the day and diminishing near sunset. A cold front and a good chance of rain is coming up later this week with lows near freezing. White bass and hybrids continue to be the best bite in the morning with a few small stripers in the 10-lb. range being caugh about 9:pm. It cools off fast when the sun goes down but is to be near 70 for highs the next few days. Bass fishing is fair and crappie fishing is poor except under lights again about 9:PM where it is a little better.  The lake is in excellent condition for fishing but is not the best during the day. Get out early, take the middle of the day off and go out again in the evening and fish until dark and then move to the striper spawning banks. I should be catching walleye in the late evening but am not.
