Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

Caught fishing with Bink yesterday.Image title

The lake level is 555.63 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24 hours with both generators running continuously. Keep it up boys. The lake is clearing a bit and you can see your lure down about 4-feet on a sunny day and we have had some nice ones. We have four boats rented and it is keeping me busy with several groups in, taking advantage of our low prices on both cabins and boats.  It is good to be busy but it is cutting into my fishing time. Bass fishing is good now as is white bass. One group found a large school of white bass at the mouth of middle pigeon and caught several bass further back on wiggle warts. Bink was right about that. I sent another group to a crappie brush pile but they said someone dressed like Johnny Cash was camped on it so they went to another one. The water surface temperature is 50 during the afternoon on the main lake but the cool night time temperatures are holding it back. When the lows get into the 50's and highs in the high 60's the top water bite will start in earnest. Maybe one month maybe less. I usually figure on April 15th and start checking out Panther Creek first. It looks like spring is here but do not count out another cold snap so bring warm clothes. It cools off fast when the sun goes down. For now work the banks part way back in the creeks for bass and open water fishermen look for shad at the mouths of the creeks and use the 1/2 ounce Bink's spoon. The wind has been just right.
