Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 556.23 and is exactly what it was 24-hours ago.  They shut off the spillway gates but are still running both generators and it is barely keeping up with the river inflow. We would have been a foot higher if the gates had not been open. This level is not where I want it for the middle of March but overall it is at a good level for access, launching and fishing with the water in the buckbrush.  The surface temperature in the main lake is still in the high 40's and the creeks vary quite a bit.  You just have to check. Bass fishing is picking up and people fishing the local tournaments are getting about 17-lbs of fish with some big ones. That is pretty good and these guys know how to fish for bass on Norfork lake. Many of them are crankbait fishermen and like it when it is windy. The water is slow to warm and it has been windy but the wind is supposed to cut back today and it is sunny now but to get down to freezing the next couple of nights.  We need warmer nights to change the fishing much. The lake overall is in excellent condition.
