The lake level is 562.91 and has risen about six inches in the last 24-hours with about 4-hours of generation. We received about 2-inches of rain total earlier this week. The creeks run hard again for a while but did not mud up the creeks nearly as much as before. They have reduced the amount of flow out of Newport and the level to let the rivers go down. When they talk about the rain it should be remembered that the level at Newport reached 2-feet the last of November and was about to dry up. Many opportunities were lost for several weeks to drop the lake going into the spring. Now the instant replay of hold and hope is back into effect. The fishing has not been affected much and is about the same for several weeks. There were several fish coming up last evening about 5-PM around Cow point but they were white bass with an occasional small hybrid mixed in. Not being interested in them, I went bass fishing with the grub and caught a few. No big ones or picture fish. The lake in general is in good condition and the overall fishing is just fair with white bass and bass being the best and just a few crappie. The surface temperature is still about 44 and it looks like the cold weather is gone for now with the 60's late this week and next week. They are not in a frenzy or jumping in the boat but some good ones are being caught every day.
