Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 555.10 and has dropped just a bit with several hours of running one generator and several more with nothing. It is almost february and they are missing a good chance to get the level down before the spring rains. It is to be sunny with ambient temperature to reach 40 today and I am not sure what to expect as far as the fishing. It is just fair with some nice fish being caught but not high numbers except when someone gets into a big school of white bass. The fish that I am catching have moved deeper next to 40-ft. deep brush piles next to the bottom. They used to be about 10-feet down right in the brush. When this happens I go to the 1/4 ounce spoon but the 1/2 ounce one is fine. It gets you down there faster but does not have as much action. Keep your line as light as you can so the lure is not dragging a rope. The lake is not clear enough for the fish to be line shy but it is a good habit to use clear line on this lake. When it does clear they fish will not bite on spyder braided or colored line unless they are very deep like in the summer. I am catching cpappie, bass and bluegill only now and not in high numbers unlike a couple of weeks ago. Surface temperature is still 45 degrees and you can see your lure down about 4-feet. A few good fish were caught yesterday. Bass and crappie. Temps to be around 60 this weekend.
