Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 555.46 and has dropped a little over 2-inches in the last 24-hours despite over an inch of rain. I was really glad they did not stop generating when it rains like they usually do. Just leave them running. It was raining lightly when I went out yesterday. It just kept it up just enough to be irritating but the fish were biting and the wind was light  so it made up for it. We received about 1.1 inches of rain.  I caught 12- crappies and some good smallmouth bass on the grub. The bass were near the bank in about 12-feet of water and the crappie were shallow on brush about 6-feet down.  Both spoons and grubs were working. A few of the crappie were smaller than yesterday but some were very large. The bass were in the 2-21/2 lb. range. All fish were very healthy. It is cloudy and spitting rain again today with warmer weather for the early part of next week scheduled.  Remember the Norfork Lake fish cover permits will be issued at the Corps of Engineer Office and 9:AM Tuesday January 15th. They are good for the fishing and will help other resort fishermen have good places to fish. Call other resort owners and ask them to put some brush in for you. It works. I saw no other boats out there yesterday. No reports from the sofa here. I have some good places to fish close to the dock so you can have a place to get shelter if the rain gets too much.
