Tom Kelly with a good bass. All fish were released at the boat.
The smallmouth are starting to bite.
John Bornhop with a nice hybrid striper.
The lake level is 554.28 and still rising. They quit generating last evening. it was a good day for fishing yesterday. It was a bit windy when I went out but the ambient temperature was a little above 50. The wind died about 4:PM . I caught some very nice bass early and the crappie started biting at sunset. Four keeper bass and five nice crappie were caught in two hours. One crappie was very big. Bass fishing is picking up nicely. Many fish are moving shallow late and that is what I have been waiting for. It was just slow happening. That is why you have to be out there nearly everyday to write an accurate fishing report. Yhe surface water temperature was 49+ to 50+ degrees depenting on where you were. The runoff from the rain clouded the lake just a bit but not bad. It will be necessary to move the dock in soon and that is not what we want for January. My so-called winter banks are holding fish now and I was doubting if it was going to happen. Blackburns has some good fishermen in now and they are catching fish everyday. We like that. If your normal place is closed, come on down. You can go back to paying more when they open. I do not leave to go on vavation, this is the place I want to be. Might as well stay open and keep the loyal employees working. I have some good ones.
