Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 552.53 and is rising very slowly with just one hour of running one generator yesterday. The surface temperature was almost 59 when I went out last evening. The main lake is clearing slowly and the creeks cleared a bunch yesterday with many creek minnows on the bank bringing in the bass. It started out slow for me as I tried three different places and then the sun started to go down and the fish started biting. I caught several crappie a a couple of keeper bass from then until dark when they just stopped. About 5:PM the rescue boat and helicopter came very close to where I was fishing and I was very sorry to hear about the accident. We seem to lose three or four people a year on the lake and I wish it could be stopped. I love being out there so much and wish it could be safe for everyone. It has been very foggy in the mornings for a couple of days so be careful. Do not run blind by GPS. The normal high is 58 and it is to get into the 60's today with sunny skies and light wind with a cold front and rain for tomorrow with about a 20-degree drop for highs and then warming back up for the holliday. Red meat fishing is picking up after being slow for a bit. Trolling umbrellas is working well again.  It is easier to find the shallow shad now with the gulls coming back. Crappie fishing is fair and bass fishing is good and a lot of white bass are coming in. Blackburns has one cabin open for today so come on down. We will not charge you too much.
