Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 552.14 and is stable with a very little generation in the afternoon. The White river at Newport is at 2+ feet and is about to dry up. The lake is at a very good level for september. I went diving yesterday and a few things have changed since last week. First the visibility has improved and you can see several feet at 25-28 feet where most of the fish are. That is very ggod. Another is that many Kentucky bass are now on brush at that level and good ones too. I got a few crappie but did not see any walleye. i was fishing near Robinson Island. There were many more fish on the brush than a few days ago. Almost all fish were either on or very near brush. I will go to a crappie place where I was catching them on a pole this weekend. There are some there but not as many as there will be when the water cools a bit more. The crappie are biting fair but not good and it has been the same for about a month. The bite is sporadic and you will wait an hour with no bites and then catch 3 or 4 . We will see today. it will do nothing but get better.  Surface water temperature was  about 82.  For you bass fishermen this is a good time but look for cover and not just beat the bank.
