Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 552.04 and stable with just a little generation in the late afternoon. I went fishing for crappie yesterday for a couple of hours. The lake is still stained a little green but is a good color for fishing. You can see your lure down about 8-9 feet. I went out about 2:30 Pm and it was slow with the weather being sunny one minute and light rain the next, time after time. We received very little rain. It was slow to start and I only caught a couple of Kentucky bass until about 3:30 when the crappie started biting. The wind was very light so I switched to minnows and caught 5 nice ones and a couple of nice bluegill. The fish were all on brush at 26 feet deep and 18-feet down. I brought them up slow and took them to Tom Kelly's trophy pond. I released 10 nice fish. Other people are still catching small stripers and a few walleye deep. I still do not like seeing rows of small dead stripers on dock floors but to each there own. The fish in the 5-7 lb. range are barely two to three years old and all die coming out of deep water. Leave some for the future. Fish for something else until they move to the bank in the fall when they can be released safely. The posession limit is 6 and people cannot be eating all of these fish. The daily limit should be cut to two of any size with no culling.
