Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

.Willie and Cody caught some nice fish.  Good to have them back. Good people.Image title

It clouded up and thundered a bit but no rain so far. it is very dry again. The lake level is 553.20 and is stable with almost no generation. The main lake is pretty clear down to about 20 feet and the creeks are stained. People are still catching top water fish north of Cranfield island early and spooning schooled fish on shad and on brushpiles. Fishing is holding up pretty well for August with a lot of smaller stripers being killed. People seem to be proud of these fish which are only about 2-1/2 years old. I have lost most of the walleye and will search for them tomorrow. It has been very busy here with people taking advantage of the best cabin and boat rental prices in the area and free boat stalls. We sure do have a lot of repeat customers and we appreciate them. The big pool with slide is the main attraction and is busy all of the time. Some people just cannot believe there are no mosquitoes here but I have not seen one at Blackburns in 23 years. They are in other parts of the area though. The children love the big flat playground and riding their bikes down the nearly flat road to the big dock, fishing off the dock and feeding the turtles and fish. We are not huddled up on a steep hillside here with crowded parking and you do not have to go somewhere else to launch your boat.
