The lake level is 556.09 and they have cut way back on the generation. It is actually rising just a bit. Newport is just over 8-feet and dropping. They could let out a lot more if they wanted too. The lake is at a good level and if I could pick a constant level this would be it. Brush piles are at perfect depths and there are fish on them. Crappie, bass, bluegill, white bass and a few walleye. Jigging spoons are working best. I have not been diving for a couple of days due to the work load but the lake looks to be in perfect condition for boating and swimming from the top. Surface temperature is approaching 90-degrees and the water is pretty clear. You can drive or walk to the dock and launch on a nearly flat road and step on the dock. Have the children bring their bikes. The very large pool with slide is very busy. You better check if your place to stay has a pool as several do not and some do not have a launch or covered porches. We are set up good here and will not charge you too much. If you are boating after dark (which I do not recommend) do not cut points. Some stick out very far and are shallow. Several boats run aground on points every year and tear them up badly.
