Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 561.95 and they are generating about 1/2 the time. Newport is down to below 12-feet and there is no reason not to generate more out of Norfork. Table rock is normal and they are keeping it that way to protect Branson Landing. Just when they are getting to a level that does some good they slow way down. We need to be below 560 and now. This needs to be investigated. Nothing much has changed as far as fishing is concerned. Crappie are deep and in cold water about 30-feet down no matter what the water depth and most are still on shad. I am not finding many on brush. Walleye and bass are though. They are around the thermocline at 21-feet or just above in the mud line near the bottom with the bass a bit higher.  A few are in the cold water. Stripers have gone deeper as the water warmed and are around 50-ft. down suspended at several depths. The surface temperature is still 86 degrees and has not changed much lately. We are so busy with people taking advantage of our low cabin prices, low boat rental prices, largest pool in the area and free boat stalls that  I have not had a lot of time to go fishing. They really appreciate the big covered porches and all cabins separate with no duplexes.  I try to get out in the early morning for an hour or so to check out places when it is cool. It has been abnormally hot and dry for June and it is a good thing the pool is as large as it is with so many people using it. The children love the slide.  We need a rain.
