All of these were caught this morning.Image title

The lake is staining just a bit after the rain. It was much clearer. The creeks did it a day before. The lake level is 564.46 and has dropped 2-inches in the last 24-hours with continous generation. Newport is at 13 feet so it is hard to predict what they will do. It needs to get to 560 for day-use areas to start opening up but the Corps is very slow cleaning up after areas are flooded. They could get to 560 in 18 days if they continue the generation and there is no heavy rain. Fishing was pretty good yesterday with several big spawned out crappie being caught. They were roughed up and bloody indicating it has not been very long since the spawn. Some smaller ones still have eggs. Several fish are in the 19-25 ft. range ourside the brush indication a thermocline. I will check it out as soon as i can get away from work. There should be one with this high of water temperature. It is not going down anytime soon with this hot weather. Walleye are schooled as are the bass and crappie and are in 19-25 feet and roaming. The very small shad are everywhere. Some stripers have already moved to deeper water (50 ft.) and are being caught on a spoon. Grubs and swim baits worked outside the brush are working well. Some nice fish were caught this morning. Check rates before you book. Some have raised their prices again. We will not charge you too much.
